""Oh my gosh, we had such a great time. The resort was simply awesome. We loved the daily spa treatments, enjoyed the restaurants, and did a bunch of reading by the beach. It was the perfect place to spend a honeymoon...."

Active, family-friendly resort on the Big Island's Kona-Kohala Coast –This residential-style deluxe resort is set amidst a dramatic natural setting of azure water, white-sand, black lava, and lush green vegetation on the North Kona Coast. No structure stands higher than the palm trees at the property, listed on both the 2008 Conde Nast Traveler "Gold List" and Travel + Leisure "T+L 500."

Accommodations: Make yourself at home in your room or suite with a furnished lanai, an ocean view, flat-panel television, a coffee/tea maker, a personal bar menu, a DVD player, a CD player, an in-room safe, a complimentary newspaper, thick terry bathrobes, a hairdryer, and twice daily housekeeping services. Sleep easy in a king-size, double, or sofa bed. TIP: The rooms in buildings 25-32, by the adults-only pool, are popular, so book early. Some accommodations have an outdoor garden with a lava rock shower, and some suites have a custom bamboo bed canopy and headboard. The Presidential Villa includes a massage for 2 and an outdoor shower and whirlpool. TIP: Special amenities are provided for infants and children if you let the resort know they're staying, too.

Dining & Entertainment: The oceanfront Pahu i'a pays homage to Hawaii's bounty and the ocean with a menu devised from succulent seafood, organic produce, and fragrant herbs. Exceptional grilled items in a relaxed, oceanfront setting are served at the Beach Tree Bar & Grill, which hosts contemporary Hawaiian and soft rock music, accompanied some nights by a hula dancer. On Saturdays, take part in its barbecue buffet on the beach: Surf, Sand, and Stars. Savor the best in Hawaiian regional cuisine and order from the coffee menu at the acclaimed Hualalai Grille by Alan Wong. Both the Lava Lounge and the Beach Tree Bar are great venues to see a spectacular sunset. In-room dining is ready to serve you any time. Consult the concierge about arranging a special dinner on the beach.

Recreation: The resort has an oceanfront pool, an infinity-edge lagoon-shaped pool, an adults-only pool, an Olympic-style pool with lap lanes, a pool carved out of natural lava rock, and a free-from children's pool. The ocean ambassadors, Alaka'i Nalu, can guide you in numerous water sports. Play on 8 Rebound Ace surface courts, of which 4 are lighted, at the tennis club. The Jack Nicklaus signature Hualalai Golf Course capitalizes on the contours of the landscape to provide a great game. Go rock climbing, and take a morning shoreline walk. The fitness center promotes wellness, and the spa reflects the Aloha Spirit. Your young children have fun at Kids For All Seasons, and your teenagers enjoy the game and activity center. Visit the Ka'upulehu Cultural Center.
