Casual, family-friendly, beachfront resort, convenient to area attractions – Hawaii's rich voyaging history and legends, as well as its warm hospitality, are celebrated at this recently renovated property. The resort is set on 11 beachfront acres, amidst a coconut grove that's about 100 years old. The Coconut Plantation Marketplace is next door, and Spouting Horn and Kilauea Lighthouse are nearby.

Accommodations: Tropical touches dress up your room or suite. It is handsomely outfitted with distinct Polynesian designs, shuttered doors that open to a private lanai, air-conditioning, a king-size bed or 2 queen-size beds, a mini-refrigerator, a coffee maker, cable TV, high-speed Internet access, voicemail, an in-room safe, a clock radio, an iron and an ironing board, and a hairdryer. Most of the guest quarters afford views of the beautiful blue ocean, and all of them can accommodate up to 4 people. There are daily housekeeping services and laundry facilities.

Dining & Entertainment: Get an early start with breakfast from the Market Coffee Kiosk, in the lobby. It has island fruit, pastries, fresh baked bread, cereals, yogurt, and coffee made from Kauai-grown coffee beans. A miniature Koa double-hulled canoe and original antique maps adorn the walls at the open-air Voyager Grille Restaurant. Make your morning selections from its sumptuous breakfast buffet, and enjoy American and Pacific Rim cuisine for lunch and dinner. Cook's Landing, with a decorative theme centered around British explorer and navigator Captain James Cook, offers tropical cocktails, a creative pupu menu, nightly entertainment, and a TV for sporting events viewing. Get ready to experience the Tihati's Hiva Pasefika Luau, with a lei greeting, arts and crafts, the traditional unearthing of the imu (pit-steamed pig), a musical journey of the South Pacific islands, and an exciting fire knife dance.

Recreation: By day, at the golden-sand beach, go snorkeling among the colorful offshore coral. In the evening, return for a spectacular view of a sunset that appears dipped in honey. NOTE: Ocean currents in winter make swimming dangerous, so take a dip in the large heated swimming pool, with a spacious sundeck and an adjoining whirlpool. Bring all your best moves to the tennis court. Run a couple of miles on a treadmill in the exercise room or go outdoors and jog along the path that's parallel to the beach. The day spa offers a menu of rejuvenating massages, body wraps, and body scrubs. Time your visit for inspiring seasonal whale-watching. Golf is in the area.
